Your practitioner will take a full medical, medication & lifestyle history if you have never visited the clinic before, or review it if you have. All your information is taken in a private room and stored on our secure database for your privacy & security.
The most recent research points to how long you’ve had your injury for as to how many sessions may be required. If for example, you’ve had pain for between 6 weeks and 3 months, typically 3 sessions are required. For those with pain over 6 months, 5+ sessions maybe required.
Our practitioner will assess your response after each session to determine how many more treatments may be needed.
Treatments are spaced 1 week apart, as Shockwave Therapy has a cumulative effect.
Shockwave is suitable for most adults as it is non-invasive and has minimal side effects.
However, shockwave is not suitable:
If you are pregnant
If you have a blood clotting disorder (including thrombosis)
If you are taking oral anti-coagulants
If you have received a Steroid injection within 6 weeks
If you have a Pacemaker fitted
If tumours are present at the treatment site
If you have an infection or skin abrasion at the treatment site
If you are Under 16 (except in the treatment of Osgood-Schlatter disease)

I recently visited the Cornish Podiatry Clinic for an Initial Podiatry Appointment. I was a little nervous as this was my first visit, but Kate made me feel welcome and relaxed straight away. She was very knowledgeable and thorough, providing a range of tests to check for general foot health followed by specific treatments and also information to ensure continued good health. Would recommend for anyone wanting peace of mind over the condition of their feet and dealing with any issues before it's too late.
